Communication at IRIS

This case study portrays one of the works developed by the Communications Team of Samsys for the company IRIS, in the following areas: Design – Corporate Image and Digital MarketingStreamlining Facebook Ads and Google Ads campaigns. In this context, the challenge was to create a corporate identity and to create efficient media for communication.

About IRIS

IRIS_Logo IRIS – Regional Incubator of Social Innovation – is an incubator to capture ideas and projects and support the creation, development and acceleration of innovation and social entrepreneurship’s initiatives. Its mission is to create an ideal ecosystem for the development of social innovation initiatives that promote community growth because they argue that social innovation is key to driving a strong global economy and a better world.

What is the influence of corporate image

When Samsys was contacted by IRIS, the main interest was to standardize the company’s corporate image, colour, font, structure, layout, among others, and improve the dynamization of the three areas related to the core business of the company: Community, Education and Incubation.

There were several supports created not only to present the company but also to its areas and the initiatives they organize and participate, such as competitions, workshops, training, fairs and others.

At this level, several formats were adjusted, using a visual identity capable of relating the elements with the company and, with that design, the company distinguished itself.

Bringing a strong visual presence to events

One of the main needs was the fact that IRIS organized and was present in many initiatives. The company wanted to make a strong visual presence to promote the company, in schools and other institutions, in the form of lectures, training, workshops, etc.

Given the experience of Samsys in the organization of corporate events, aimed at various types of audience, the first task was identifying points of intervention. The most common and most used supports are roll-ups, so we started by defining what the design would look like and made the respective production of these materials, with usual suppliers and with whom we have a relationship of trust.

 

Creation of Corporate Identity and application on various media

We were asked for a template for the presentations at the events that IRIS organizes and where they are present, which required the creation of a basic concept framed with corporate identity, distinguished according to the themes of Education and Community.

Starting from a template, based on the elements that the customer provided, various media were adapted by the Samsys Communication Team, which was responsible for handling each situation, such as PowerPoints, Word, Posters, email marketing, among others.

Education

In the area of Education, the basic idea appeared in the noughts and crosses (US EN: tic-tac-toe), with symbols such as X’s and O’s, which were present in the premises and inspired us. This was a striking way to reach out to children and young people, the target audience.

Following the idea of the dynamics created by the company, the Ideas Contest, we have developed innovative support – the cootie catcher and a new flyer.

Community

In the Community, we have started from the idea of networking, a concept in which the icons are circles, which symbolize connections, and traits that signify the connections established between these different contacts.

 

Marketing Digital

Management of publications, Google Ads and Facebook campaigns

We have made a follow up of IRIS’ digital campaigns, through which the Communication team promoted different content, non-organic, to capture a very specific target audience. Our Marketing Specialist team integrated the main disciplines of Digital Marketing and articulated them to obtain business results with defined objectives, developed management practices of the Google Ads and Facebook Ads campaigns, as well as their follow up and monitoring with practical KPIs and strategic.

What is the main advantage of carrying out Facebook campaigns? Advertising on Facebook makes it easier to find the right people, get their attention and get results.

The first step in carrying out a communication campaign of our team always involves a detailed study of the client, its area of action and its main objectives. Then, the Communication Team develops the 7 states of implementation of the campaign:

  • State 1 – Analysis of the internal and external situation of IRIS;
  • State 2 – Market and consumer analysis;
  • State 3 – Determine the segmentation, identify the target and positioning of the brand;
  • State 4 – Define the campaign plan, goals and direction;
  • State 5 – Marketing strategy planning, program and customer support;
  • State 6 – Plan to measure the progress of the campaign and Performance;
  • State 7 – Implement, control and evaluate the plan.

Communication of events in social networks

The main challenge was the launch of the IRIS Social Innovation Meet Up 2018 and the Grow Innovation contest. In this context, campaigns on the social networks Facebook / Instagram and Google Ads were carried out and monitored by our team of specialists in the Marketing area.

About the IRIS Social Innovation Initiative Meet Up 2018

IRIS Social Innovation Meet Up 2018, was held on October 19th at the Casa das Artes in Felgueiras. This meeting, promoted by IRIS, with the support of the Felgueiras Town Hall (CMF), Casa das Artes and the Institute of the European Investment Bank (IEIB), had the objective to inspire the participants to have new ideas and create synergies for the creative resolution of social and environmental problems. The initiative had 26 speakers, 226 participants and many moments of sharing opinions about different themes. About 45% of those present were aware of the event through social networks. An action that was exhausted and had an excellent articulation between “digital” marketing and word of mouth marketing, by IRIS.

About the IRIS Grow Innovation Acceleration Program

The IRIS Grow Innovation Acceleration Program is a training program designed for teams of entrepreneurship and social innovation projects that seek to solve/minimize seriously and neglected social and/or environmental problems through innovative solutions. The first edition of the program counted on a total of 17 registrations for the projects: Brincar de Rua, PillDeal, Diáspora Activa, Somos Família, Social One, BIT-it, Fairmeals, Waste to Win, Rota de Aprendizagem, SentirSnoezelen, Jardim d’Areias, Teatro Sobre rodas, Health Tribe Academy, eCO2Blocks, Healthy Jump, Move Saúde, Tangram.
